Dome 16

series / concept artist

Dome 16 (Kuppel 16 in Norwegian) is a science fiction series set in Norway 120 years in the future, in a world grappling with the devastating consequences of extreme climate and atmospheric conditions. Anton and Emma are both 16 and live in the same city, but they are confined to disparate climate zones. They were never meant to meet, and certainly not to fall in love. When they do however, it compells them to embark on a daring journey that necessitates upending their very worlds.

Planet X was asked to create a large part of the visual effects for Dome 16. I had the privilege of collaborating on this remarkable project as an Art Director and Concept Artist, focusing specifically on the visual effects that were within our purview.

The creative direction for the project was defined by a commitment to minimalist design infused with tactile, tangible textures.

An illustrative example of this approach lies in the series' portrayal of personal assistant robot drones. These futuristic companions function as versatile counterparts to smartphones, capable of accomplishing a wide array of tasks. My task was to design these assistants with an emphasis on approachability, ensuring they possessed a gentle and unobtrusive appearance. We conceived these petite spheres as comprising two magnetic halves, between which a range of tools could extend when separated, including a versatile projector capable of beaming content to any location. Below, you'll find a visual exploration of my sketches, studies, and designs.
